I farmed for 15K armour and a celestial sigil. On reflection, neither was worth the time spent on farming. Collector items are usually as good as the majority of golds that drop, and can in most circumstances be upgraded to be superior to all but the rarest golds. Runes are, in the whole, incredibly cheap now. PvP players can unlock them via PvP, PvE players will find them during quests/missions - chests are a great source of runes.
What Anet have done with the balancing is reward those that *play* the game more and reduced the gains from farming - a change I fully support. As for those players with millions of gold, there is only so much they can spend it on. They may be able to outbid you for a gold item, but they are no more likely to get a rare gold drop, a green or win against you in a PvP match simply due to the money they have*.
*arguably runes and 'uber' weapons could make a difference, but it's a more of a general point.
